258 Hagley Dr. Pawleys Island, SC 29585 843 241-2507
A native of Michigan, Cathy moved with her family to South Carolina in 1989. Although she enjoyed a hectic career in Real Estate for over 20 years, Cathy, who is self taught still managed to paint primarily for family, friends, and many commissioned pieces. Cathy feels at long last she is doing what she was meant to do in this life.
Living on the marsh in Pawleys Island inspired a love of the low country landscape, the ocean, and the abundant and beautiful marsh birds. Although she considers herself a Wildlife painter at heart, a favorite subject is the Grayman of Pawleys Island. Many locals reported seeing the “ghost” before a hurricane and frequently asked for a commissioned painting as a good luck charm for their beach homes. The first such painting was donated and auctioned at The American Cancer Society Golf Tournament, thus starting a series of original works, fifty at last count, all shapes and sizes with no two faces alike.
From miniatures of Carolina songbirds to the palmetto and dune lined beaches and marshes of the Low Country to a beloved pet or honeymoon spot, Cathy enjoys the challenge of painting a wide variety of subjects.
Cathy’s work can be viewed at The Island Art Gallery, Pawleys Island
