Giclees, prints and framed art work is available by "Low Country" photographer, Mike Covington. These works are for sale, both framed or unframed as well as canvas and prints at http://lowcountryart.org.
These scenic and landscape photos came from along the rivers, the Intercoastal Waterway and on the beaches along the Grand Strand.
Each year, a wide variety of migratory birds move through the South Carolina Low Country area which offers grand opportunities for photographers to capture that "once in a lifetime" shot. Many of Mike's wildlife photos have been taken around Pawleys Island, Huntington Beach State Park, and the Murrells Inlet area.
The beauty of our fragile environment is exemplified when one spends time outdoors ~~ watching the sights and listening to the sounds of nature. It is truly easier to appreciate and understand the importance of protecting these precious gifts for future generations.
Mike has created his website, http://www.lowcountryphotos.com, as a way to share the natural beauty of the wildlife and landscapes in and around the Low Country areas of South Carolina.
Currently Mike has been focused on creating digital images of artist’s original paintings.
There are several options available to artists:
One option ~~ high quality digital images of your original art production for display, to sell and archive your artwork.
If you have ever had professional photos made of your artwork that has a glossy or reflective surface, you may have noticed tiny light dots in areas of your artwork. My current process uses a special polarizing lens over my studio lights and also a polarizing filter on the lens when required. This process is a little more complicated, but is an excellent way to cancel the effect of the sparkles and capture the full depth of color on the more challenging artwork. The setup I use is called cross-polarization and requires very powerful lights to adjust for the way polarization filters the light from my studio strobe lights. The result can actually be better than you can see the artwork in real life display situations.
Along with these digital images, there is a need for the understanding of the many printing options available: See http://www.lowcountryart.info
~~ Choosing between many types and qualities of paper
~~ Printing on the various types of paper or canvas
~~ Choice of printing company
~~ The finishes - matte, glossy, luster
~~ Framed, matted or gallery wrap
~~ Your own personal Website is another option. This option comes with many, sometimes intimidating questions.
~~ First consider your many Website choices: one page or a full blown Website with multiple pages
~~ Are you computer savvy enough to maintain your own Website or do you need a professional?
~~ What is a reasonable amount to pay for creating and maintaining your Website?
~~ How are your pictures uploaded to the Website?

Mike has always been interested in photography and in getting that "special" photo. One of the reasons Mike and his wife relocated to South Carolina in 2006 was to be able to explore the many nature and scenic photographic opportunities in the area.
