His photographic interests where undoubtedly initiated by their father’s hobby of photography. His proud father would document the development of his children through their younger years with annual Christmas card photographs and in later years, would explain the technicalities of the dark room and cameras to Bill. His mother also had a profound influence on Bill’s fascination with all things of nature. A professional floral designer and greenhouse owner, his mother instilled a high regard for the beauty of nature and an appreciation of the need to preserve and care for our environment. Following several years of involvement with his family business, Bill later returned to his alma mater joining the faculty of Cornell University as a Cooperative Extension Specialist, serving the educational needs of the horticulture industry of New York State. Over the years Bill honed his photographic skills through self-education and enrollment in the NY Institute of Photography. Appropriately, many of his subjects are floral images, a good portion of them cultivated by him. He is an avid fisherman, fly tier, and outdoorsman reflecting that passion with landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and nature photography. He was an award winning member of the Artists Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, RI, where he retired several years ago. In 2009, Bill moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, and is a member of the Seacoast Artists Guild and Myrtle Beach Camera Club. He is starting to collect some new awards and very much enjoys the wonderful photographic opportunities the area provides along with the many outstanding qualities of the community he and his wife Frances now call home.
